Helping you to have the best possible relationship with your dog is the goal of all our training services. Regardless of whether you simply want help housebreaking and getting off on the right foot with a new puppy, have a particular behavior issue you need to address or just want a well-behaved dog, we can help.
Which services and how many sessions you want will depend on what you want to accomplish. Call us at (860) 673-4818 and we can give you a good idea of what will be involved to reach your goals. Although we offer training packages that can help your budget, you never have to commit to more than one session at a time unless you want to.
Puppy Consultation / Household Manners
In our first session we get to know you and your dog by asking questions and answering yours. You’ll learn a lot about how your dog sees the world so you can start to see big improvements in around-the-house behavior. We address all the usual issues: housebreaking, chewing, mouthing, jumping up on people and furniture, riding in the car, barking, bolting out of doors, and begging the very first time we meet with you. If there are other issues, we discuss those as well. Read more about puppies here.
Most people in addition to wanting to stop unwanted behaviors, want to be able to go and do stuff with their dogs. Our basic on-leash training takes about seven sessions and includes the manners instruction mentioned above. Your dog will also learn to regard you as his or her leader, walk nicely on the leash and to reliably follow basic commands in the presence of real-world distractions.
Off-leash training means that your dog will learn to reliably follow all of the essential commands including the all important “come” without a leash and in the presence of real-life distractions. It is a truly wonderful thing to be able to confidently call your dog away from a deer, another dog or even a skunk. This usually takes a total of about 15 sessions start to finish.
Abused or neglected dogs can present their own unique issues, which can include fearfulness, insecurity, lack of trust, possessiveness, or social immaturity. We’ve worked with many rescued dogs, and we can help you too.
Our 25 years of experience is especially helpful when dealing with serious behavior problems such as aggression toward people or other animals, submissive urination, hyperactivity, and separation anxiety.
Sometimes, in spite of your best intentions, it can be hard to fit dog training into your already busy schedule. Armchair training is for you! We come to your home three times per week and train your dog(s) for you. It’s like having a dog-walker only your dog actually gets trained in the process. Of course you still need to be involved so you know how to maintain what we’re teaching, but we can alleviate most of the demands on your time that daily training requires.
Prices range from $65 – $80 per session. Dog training is subject to CT sales tax.
We offer both individual sessions and package savings.
No up-front commitment required. Packages or individual sessions offered at every stage.
